The Care Bears turn 25 this year! The cute, colorful bears were developed in 1981 by American Greetings for their greeting cards and in 1982 The Wall Street Journal announced the launch of the Care Bears. Originally, there were 10 Care Bears Tenderheart Bear, Birthday Bear, Good Luck Bear, Friend Bear, Bedtime Bear, Grumpy Bear, Wish Bear, Funshine Bear, Cheer Bear, and Love-a-Lot Bear. Despite being a little too old for the Care Bears in 1982 and already well into more grown up pursuits (BARBIE) by that time, they must of have managed to make an impression on me. Even I knew at the time who Grumpy Bear was!
Now the Care Bears have managed to make their way into my household even if it is 25 years later. Two Halloweens ago, my son dressed as one of the bears ~ and my daughter has a little pink glow in the dark Care Bear of her own. Happy Anniversary to the Care Bears ~ you sure are cute!
