I was at an estate sale today buying a vintage SCARY dirty magazine…

and I normally don’t care to buy old magazine unless they have really good vintage ads (as in vintage jewelry) in them but I couldn’t resist this cover from 1941. If you look at the cover it looks like Bette Davis naked in the park in trouble, being man-handled by a serial rapist!

I am not sure if I am going to read this magazine or not, I don’t want nightmares. It kind of squashes my idea of an idealistic, gentler time in the 1940′s. I like how it says on the cover “official” detective stories, it makes me wonder what the unofficial detective stories are? Those must be super scary stories! Maybe the unofficial stories have aliens, ghosts, and all sorts of paranormal activities. I wonder if aliens probed people in the 1940′s- ’cause they probe people all the time now- and don’t pretend you don’t know what I am talking about. If you are on my blog you have probably been accosted by aliens- yourself.

WWII was an “idealistic, gentler” time?

I realize the war was going on- but what I mean is something to the effect, that one would not think there were a bunch of mutilation killings and a fellow going around as a sniper in Lover’s Lane areas in Chicago killing men.

The perception in my mind is that crazy over the top shocking crime only happens today. That’s not true though- what’s true to some extent is that we glorify it and see more of it today because of television, movies, internet etc. The same stuff happened then- but I think there was more insulation against being bombarded with it. Of course if you liked that stuff then you could go out and get a true crime magazine like this one. I suspect they were quite popular…

It’s funny – the thing that caught my eye about this magazine cover was the 15 cents price. And now, after typing that sentence, I’m realizing that my keyboard doesn’t even have a “cents” symbol on it. I just spent several minutes staring at the keyboard trying to find one. How is it that this is the first time I noticed this?

The cents (¢) symbol is hidden. On the Mac, it’s Opt-4. No idea where it is on the PC.

Apologies, but I’ve just tagged you in a meme.

(don’t feel you have to by the way; it’s surprisingly difficult!)

Boy, that scary dirty magazine must be keeping you busy. ;-) Must be very, um, gripping.

I think when she got to the centerfold she passed out on the floor. Someone really should go to Wisconsin and revive her! Poor Michelle. ;)

There are no centerfolds in this magazine and I have seen plenty of vintage porn pictures. I sell on eBay you know. They let you sell vintage porno on the regular site- as if boobs from the 1950′s are different from boobs today.

Too on eBay I like how every picture of guys in the military during the World Wars are “gay interest.” Look these sailors are shirtless- it’s gay interest! Look this gunner has a big gun- it’s gay!!! Ha Ha- look at these sweaty vintage dudes, wait oh yeah – they are gay.

Besides I am so old that looking at myself naked in the mirror is shocking!! I think I qualify as vintage porn now…. :o P

I think you should read it and scan the images online for us to enjoy! :D
