What’s in Your Vintage Shopping Bag Meme

A couple weeks ago I was tagged by Bobby to do the What’s in Your Handbag Meme. However, I really don’t think anyone wants to see into my purse. Basically my purse is a repository for all the receipts for both my businesses until I can account for them. I know “bad bad accountant…,” but I found that it keeps those suckers off my desk. Then I don’t feel bad about the back log of expenses I have to record in Quick Books and as we all know accounting is not about actual numbers, it’s about feeling good! Regardless, I have altered this MeMe to suit my tastes and have come up with the What’s in Your Vintage Shopping Bag Meme.

The first thing in my vintage shopping bag from this weekend’s treasure hunt is the Bionic Woman Game by Parker Brothers from 1976. The kids and I like to play a lot of board games so I snapped this up for under two bucks which is a better deal then buying new games at Wal-Mart for $20 or more. I was happy to find that all the pieces and cards were there. Although I haven’t played the game yet, just having bought it this weekend I have already found something irritating… the downside is that the special cards are labeled “Assists from Steve Austin.” NO SORRY I DON’T THINK SO! I DON’T NEED YOUR SORRY SIX MILLION DOLLAR BUTT HELPING ME DO ANYTHING… HELLO! Step back fool and let a real woman take care of the bad guys… Ok I think I got that off my chest and I will just conveniently remove the man help cards before play. Goodbye Steve Austin – Go help little old ladies cross the street!

The next item in my vintage shopping bag is a glass mug from 1980 that features Pac Man and Ghosts, made by Bally Midway Manufacturing. I thought this was cool for a buck and it looked like it had hardly been used. It wasn’t until I got it home and thought about it while taking pictures- I don’t think I have ever played Pac Man but a handful of times. Mrs. Pac Man was actually my game, but I don’t it will kill the taste of my morning coffee to drink out of a Pac Man mug- so dollar well spent!

The final item in my shopping bag is a pair of complete Hulk Hogan Rock n Wrestling curtains with sashes. These feature Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Wendy Richter, The IronSheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and Mean Gene Okerlund in cartoon form. Hulk Hogan Rock n Wrestling was a short lived cartoon show from 1985 to 1987. Here’s the scary part, I know who they all are and didn’t look them up to write this post… Ahem, to say that I like wrestling in the 80′s would be an understatement. This was before Hulk Hogan’s kids killed anyone or before he and his wife called it quits to rob cradles and way before they let Vince McMahon turn wrestling into a traveling porn show. Regardless, of how sorry wrestling has now become I now have a perfect pair of curtains for my guest room!

For this Meme I tag Jenny, GrandDad, Kalilea, and Lidian.

Here are the directions: Copied from DCR Blogs who changed his MeMe to What’s On My Desk.

1. Dump the contents of your handbag in a pile.
2. Take a photo of your handbag and the contents.
3. Be brave and ’splain to your fellow bloggers what lurks inside the handbag.
4. Tag others who might want to embarrass themselves.
5. Answer these questions:

Describe the contents of your handbag.
What’s the most important thing in your handbag?
What’s the most embarrassing thing in your handbag?
What’s the smallest thing in your handbag?
Is there anything illegal in your handbag?

Remember you can change it to suit your needs or just entirely blow it off… either way the blogosphere won’t care!

That Pacman glass looks familiar and I’m wondering if it was ever a fast food giveaway like they used to do when you bought certain meals. Anyway, it’s amazing how adaptable this meme is. ;)

I just copied the directions from Bobby. ;-)

I liked Ms. Pac-Man too. The ghosts were cooler. I had the home version of Pac-Man. I think I flipped it twice. I can’t do that well anymore though. :-(

You would have gotten along swell with my neighbor. He liked that wrestling too.

Hahaha…my sister once had that Bionic Woman game, and because I’m a nice brother, I actually played it with her. Are you saying that wrestling isn’t wholesome American fun? A bunch of steroid pumped freaks and nasty prn queens isn’t good for kids?

…. I took the Pac Man glass, sorry. It is just like my favorite from way back ~ I broke that one.

Teeni – I looked most glasses will say Arby’s or whatever on it… I thought it was a food giveaway too. They don’t do that much anymore do they.

Dan- they key word is “liked” – wrestling sucks now. So did Little Too go to Hollywood Chihuahua yet?

Bobby- Come over and play with us- apparently Speedy wants to be Steve Austin… have you ever thought about karate chopping the 6 million dollar man, because he needs one?

Speedy- I like how proficient you are with spelling out sounds. I was trying to spell out heavy breathing the other day and couldn’t figure it out. Now I know who to go to.

Jenny- It’s not compulsory and you can take weeks or months to do it….

  7. J Adamthwaite says

    Done!

  8. Debo Hobo says

See and I thought accounting was all about gathering numbers and figuring out how well to fudge them. “cook the books”

  9. Michelle Gartner says

Deborah- accounting is about cooking the books and fudge… and feeling good like I said. Doesn’t fudge make you feel good?

  10. Bobby Revell says

Sure Michelle, I’ll be right over. I’m bringing my Steve Austin doll and Stretch Armstrong!!!

  11. Jake Hogan says

My son will enjoy the pacman meme. I wanted to teach him about what culture was like before he was born decades ago and this brings a smile to our faces. Thank you.
