Have you seen the gorgeous new stamps the US Post issued this summer? This summer the United States Postal Service issued 42–cent Vintage Black Cinema commemorative stamps. The five stamps depict the movies; The Sport of the Gods, Prinsesse Tam-Tam, Caldonia, Hallelujah, and Black and Tan. The stamps were designed by Carl T. Herrman of Carlsbad, California and were unveiled at a special ceremony at the Newark Museum on July 16th. If you haven’t seen them ask for a block of 20 next time you are purchasing stamps. The stamps are really beautiful- my favorite happens to be the one depicting Jospehine Baker as Prinsesse Tam-Tam.

Stamps? You’re doing stamps now? Who said you could do stamps?
I’ll give you a pass on these stamps, but you better tread carefully.
I thought rubber stamps were your game…
I actually read this before I ran errands today. One of the things I had to do was stop by the post office. When I asked about them, I got a funny look and decided not to push the issue since I’m very wary of postal clerks.
They are, that’s why I’m letting you get away with these stamps. But, I’ll be watching…
I haven’t seen these stamps yet – I was just at the post office but still have plenty in my last book so I will try to get them the next time I need them – I think they are great! I think those are definitely some talented actors who deserve more credit.
Nice stamps. I think I will get them next week when I need to get more. As a former postal worker, I can attest of the sociopathy among many of them. Steering clear is not bad advice.
Wow I never even new these were out there. I am going to buy some, hopefully there are some left.
Hi Deborah- they are really pretty- I love the vibrant colors and the artwork on these stamps- I would like to find some of the films to watch. The only thing is I kind of hate how stamps are now stickers and not lickable anymore…
I hadn’t seen these stamps before. I also hadn’t seen or heard of any of the movies except “Hallelujah”. Thank you for a fascinating post.
These sound wonderful. Thank you for letting us all know about them.
