I thought I knew the Flintstones well- but apparently I didn’t know that Fred and Barney were lazy, chauvinist, smokers. Okay- I knew they were lazy and chauvinist; but I didn’t have a clue they were smokers. I think the most disturbing part for me is when Wilma lights up at the end. Wilma always seemed too uptight to smoke.
Actually I find this old school version of the Flintstones with them smoking out back- funnier then the politically correct versions now. I had no idea that one of their major sponsors was Winston cigarettes. Not that I advocate smoking, since I am ex-smoker for eight years now. It’s just that I can’t stop laughing watching them smoke… it’s hilarious in a “I don’t know why sort of way” and “oh man do I need a smoke.”

I think you’re right – that is hilarious.
Hey James- glad to see you made it all the way to Wisconsin from Ireland… I’m not corrupting you by making you watch videos of Fred & Barney smoking eh?
That’s just so wrong. Everyone knows they would have been smoking Winstones!
You really are clever aren’t you.
That was great Michelle! When I was growing up, I loved the Flintstones. My Mom always told me, “You may like the show, but you’re too young to understand it. It’s an adult cartoon wrapped in a kid’s package.”
I never understood until I was in my later teens, but she was so right.
Thankyou for your kind words on my blog. I cheched out your vintage jewelry photos – loved the feel of those old pieces. Thanks again and have a sunny day.
I subscribed to your blog so I’ll be in touch.
That’s some really old school Flintstones. Wow, a min and a half of promoting that cig. Parents will be all over it today!
There’s something intrinsically disturbing about watching cartoon characters smoke. I don’t know why – I’m fine with cartoon characters drinking!
Now that is weird!!! Wilma will be so mad
