Preston for the win on this one. This song has deep sex/drugs/alcohol references – there is a line about “going to see Smokey when he was a little cokey” – but more to the point, its a woman who uses men to get what she wants.

A “hoochie-coocher” is a woman who uses her “feminine wiles” (i.e., sexual manipulation) to get ahead. It comes from “hoochie” or “hoochie-coochie,” long-antiquated slang terms for a woman’s private parts. In the famous Cab Calloway song, Minnie is a “hoochie-coocher” because she uses sexual manipulation, possibly for profit (hence her nickname “Minnie the Moocher”). I’m not positive, but since I’ve so often heard/seen the slang term shortened to “cooch,” I suspect that the term “hoochie-coochie” specifically connotates a connection between sex and alcohol (“hooch”), which would be consistent with the time in which this term was used.

Soapbox Mom did you see my post on May 2nd “the real solution…” that happens to be Hugh Laurie singing and playing guitar too.
Be warned he is cursing the song is about kicking butts- so if your younger kids are in the room shoo them out. I let my 15 year old watch it- but only because he is a wrestler and lives for kickin butt.
Hugh is a very talented man so is Stephen Fry. I haven’t seen House because I don’t watch television and neither do my children, it’s a little much for my taste now days. I am juvenile because I have 4 sons and a tom boy daughter- but I have limits and tv crosses many of them today. Plus I like the free time I have to surf the internet all day… ;P

I can tell you it’s part of the lyrics for a song called “Minnie the moocher”. It’s featured/sung in the movie “Blues Brothers” starring John Belushi and Dan Akroyd…a GREAT flick if you haven’t had the pleasure – Huge cast of greats: Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Cab Caloway (sings Minnie the moocher), Carrie Fisher (of Star Wars fame), and more… check it.
