Yesterday- two of my three school age kids had the day off. When I was a kid- October 12th was called Columbus Day and it was good for a day off in the Fall. So I was a little surprised when I checked out the school calendar and the day off is now called Professional Day. I guess now “Columbus Day” is not politically correct since we now know Columbus was evil- just like Halloween is evil! Please no emails regarding…
Anyway- as you can imagine having a full house does not make it easy to work and so I wasn’t able to post on Monday, but we had a lot of fun with the long weekend. One of my sons- Eikki (that would be #2) is pretty adept at making things with Legos. On Friday he made an Iowa class battleship from Legos without using any directions and from unrelated parts (not from a kit). He wanted me to take pictures for his blog Eikki’s Build IT, but I was kind of thinking since I get a lot of traffic over here, I would do better then that and post his masterpiece on my site.
Last week someone stumbled one of my posts and I recevied over 2,500 visitors that evening. I am hoping Eikki’s lego creation will get even more. After you take a look at my son’s battleship… give it a stumble if you like it.

I have emailed you my 50,000 word complaint about the Columbus day argument…hahaha
This Lego model is superb, so I shall stumble and review this post. Have a great night Michelle!
Thanks Bobby- you should have seen the goofy grin on Eikki;s face when he saw I posted his pictures on my blog and not his. When you have five kids you try to be creative to make each one feel special!
I think it’s great that you let Eikki have his own cool kid’s blog (i just looked at it)! I would have loved that as a little boy – of course I was born long before the Internet was conceived…a long, long, long time ago…LOL!!!
Cool battleships!
Professional Day? It’s still called Columbus Day around here. Of course, Cincinnati is seven years behind everyone else. We just found out Bush beat Gore.
I love the water … and waves to boot.
Hope you get 1 million hits!!!!! (last night I had 7)
Eikki had 600 hits last night from StumbleUpon- he was very excited about that…
He has a talent! I wouldn’t even know how to start building a boat (or anything else for that matter!) from lego without instructions. The sea is a nice touch.
Interesting that you say ‘legos’ – here we miss off the s.
That’s great that he is getting some well-deserved attention from SU. I’ll give it a stumble. Great lego work!
It’s still Columbus Day around here too. Sometimes the schools have something they call Professional Day though – I think it is so they can get stuff done that they can’t get done while the kids are in school. Maybe they purposely moved it to Columbus Day now? I have no clue. Your son is seriously Lego-talented! I am sorry I’m late in getting here – seems like I missed a few posts! I would stumble but see Bobby has already done that for this post. So I’ll stumble a different one soon.
