Happy Birthday to “U”

I hope you didn’t think I disappeared. I thought I would write a brief note on here before I took some time off to enjoy a long vacation with my Mom, but I just plumb forgot to pop in on here. My Mom who lives in Denver flew in on the 25th of April and stayed until today. I am very sad to see her go, especially since it is my birthday today- but we had a fabulous time together. We spent a lot of time shopping, watching movies, and hanging out with my children- it was all very relaxing. To finish off her vacation, my second oldest son was confirmed yesterday and we had a nice party with lots of friends. The weather was perfect for grilling and talking with all gathered while watching the children play.

For my birthday tonight, I suppose my husband and I will sneak out for dinner together or a drive to the lake. Tomorrow it will be back to business as usual and I suppose I’ll have to figure out something interesting in the vintage world to post on this week. Incidentally this blog is two years old this May. When I first started blogging, I thought it would be a fun way to make a little cash. It didn’t take me long to realize that only a few elite bloggers make any money from this thing called blogging. In the course of two years I have tried to walk away from blogging a couple of times, but then I get to missing some of the people and other bloggers I met online.

Now with twitter and facebook, I still can keep in touch with everyone and don’t feel so chained to this here, old blog. I keep it going now for me, just to post on the things I find interesting from the past. Oddly enough- when I check my server statistics I have a lot of visitors popping in searching for various old vintage toys or games, old celebrities, and t.v. shows. These visitors pop in once or twice and most don’t leave comments. I enjoy the comments from the few regular readers I have and that’s enough to keep me going.

Anyway Happy Birthday Old Blog, we’ll see if you make another year. Here’s a video of Ernie singing Happy Birthday to U.

Happy Birthday Michelle (and blog!) Hope you have a lovely day. It’s a shame your mum had to leave. It always takes me a few days to recover after my mum has visited. I always feel her absence; a birthday must make it even harder.

Wow. Happy Birthday to you and to your blog! I am glad you had such a nice visit with your mom. Also, I couldn’t help but notice that the Sesame Street clip you found was perfectly appropriate because it is a birthday AND it is also a vintage clip, I’m sure. It doesn’t feel like Sesame Street to me anymore since Elmo moved into the neighborhood. LOL. But I guess the kids love him. Anyway, I haven’t logged into Facebook and Twitter for a while so I guess I have to catch up over there too!

Hi Jenny- I guess my Mom had a hard time at work yesterday after leaving. I think in a couple years when she retires she will probably move out here to be closer to her grandchildren. I am her only child- so all five grandchildren are out here and since my Dad died, the only family in Denver for her is her brother.

Hi Teeni- I feel the same way about Elmo. He’s cute for a minute or two but they let Elmo take over the whole show unfortunately. I like facebook- but it seems that most of the bloggers really hang out on twitter and I have to say it doesn’t do much for me.

Thank Deborah and Es- I had a great birthday

Your “blogging story” is one I have heard many times. To make some good cash, you need some mighty links (paid publicity). Funny, when I was first at Facebook, it was just a curiosity thing, and then old pals from BLOGGERS PAST started popping up all over.

I hope your birthday was a great one. Mine will be spent golfing with Shoal and 0007. Yahh, I invited Natalie Gulbis too, but I do not think she will make it this year ;-)

Happy birthday again Michelle! Your scary present is coming via UPS (be sure to not open it indoors). I’ve thought about leaving blogging, but not anymore. It’s nice to have when you’re in the mood and it’s not like you must write a post that often. I think you’re posting slower than me, so I’d better slow down. Nobody out-slows me
