God Bless America as Sung by Kate Smith

Here’s a wonderful vintage newsreel featuring patriotic imagery and Kate Smith singing Irvin Berlin’s God Bless America. The song written in 1918 was later revised by Berlin in 1938. Kate Smith then used the song as her signature song to great acclaim. Ms. Smith first sung the song on an Armistice Day radio broadcast in 1938. Armistice Day, Remembrance Day and Veterans Day all fall on November 11th.
