Santa Misses His Favorite Baby- the Lovely Eartha Kitt

eartha-kittOrson Welles called her the most exciting woman in the world… a legendary performer with the most distinctive and sultriest of voices, Eartha Kitt passed away on December 25th, 2008. An actress, singer and voice over talent- Eartha Kitt is best known for her seductive voice whether singing or in speaking roles.

On a personal note- I always liked the fun way she portrayed herself and the characterizations she lent her voice to. For one, she’s my favorite Catwoman from the 1960’s Batman show and as the supreme villain, Yzma in the Emperor’s New Groove she is absolutely delightful. Ultimately a very sexy lady- she seemed to not take herself to seriously and have fun with her celebrity persona of sex kitten.

It’s every Christmas that I think of Eartha the most, as she purrs and coos out Santa Baby her 1953 hit. It seems kind of ironic that she passed away this last Christmas. I can’t recall how many times this last Christmas I heard Santa Baby while shopping or driving around this holiday season. I never get tired of singing along with Ms. Kitt and hoping that Santa will bring me too the deed to a platinum mine or even a ring (preferably from Tiffany’s of course).

Goodbye Ms. Kitt- you always be remembered as Santa’s favorite baby.

She was definitely an icon – one with a lot of talents. Plus, she was a lot of fun to watch – she was so beautiful and had such a captivating face! So sad to see her go.

Yes an icon- I really appreciate when I see talented celebrities that get around in their older years too. That recluse stuff is stupid- I think it speaks volumes of a persons character when they are enjoying life and working past 50. Eartha was working until the end and that’s a good thing.
