“1 2 3 – you can’t hide from me, just you wait and see. 1 2 3 – you can’t hide from me, 1 2 3 no matter what you do I’m gonna find you!” Pretty catchy tune from Groovie Goolies a cartoon that ran on CBS from 1970 to 1972. A little before my time- I do know that I have seen the show in repeats.
Groovie Goolies is a spin off of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The Goolies purportedly being Sabrina’s cousins who reside at Horrible Hall, a monster boarding house. Characters on the short lived show include Count Dracula; Frankie a body building Frankenstein monster; Wolfie the hippie werewolf; Hagatha- a witch and cook for the monsters; Bella La Ghostly, a vampiress who operates a switchboard; Dr. Jekyll and Hyde,a two-headed doctor; Mummy, who’s day job is that of a television announcer; Boneapart, the often scared skeleton and at least a half dozen more colorful monster and ghostly type characters.
Groovie Goolies episodes featured jokes and riddles done “Laugh In” style through windows- this is shown at the end of this musical video. Each episode also had a couple musical segments, besides the comedy portions with the Groovie Goolies and other musical monster bands playing various musical instruments as seen in this video featuring the song “1 2 3.”

This will surely bring back a lot of memories for some.
hi, have a happy Music Monday! I love your pick! Here’s My Music Monday
Thanks for dropping by- next time I do Music Monday I need to put up the Linky wizard.
I didn’t realise there had been a cartoon of Sabrina the Teenage Witch – I thought it all started with the teen sitcom. I just looked up the opening sequence on youtube and somehow it reminds me more of Bewitched than what it became in later years. I like the look of Groovie Goolies though! And now that tune is well and truly lodged in my head!
Hey Jenny- Nope Sabrina was a character introduced in the Archie comic books- apparently she was so well received she continued to appear in the Archie comics and then later in her own comic books. The television show was much later.
Groovie Goolies came out when I was an infant- but I remember the show somehow. I assume they were shown later in the 70’s too. My five year old son loves this tune- it is very catchy. My husband says it sounds really spooky for a kids show.
