The television show was much later. Groovie Goolies came out when I was an infant- but I remember the show somehow. I assume they were shown later in the 70's too. My five year old son loves this tune- it is very catchy. My husband says it sounds really spooky for a kids show. I just looked up the opening sequence on youtube and somehow it reminds me more of Bewitched than what it became in later years. I like the look of Groovie Goolies though!
