I haven’t been posting as much, because as some of you know life gets in the way of blogging. However- I am still here and mucking about with my hands in old stuff and selling said old junk on eBay. Finding new old things to love and hoard along the way.
Recently I have found myself rather taken by vintage charms and charms bracelets. I remember when I was a young girl my Mother had what I thought was the most incredible charm bracelet. It was a heavy duty double link charm bracelet covered in an array of sterling and enamel state charms. One for each state my father took her in his super sexy converted and carpeted gold Dodge van. There were at least 45 charms on her bracelet because he took her to over 40 states and then some Canadian territories as well. It seemed like such a sweet and romantic way to commemorate that long 18 month road trip in 1974-1975.
I don’t know what ever happened to my Mom’s charm bracelet, but I know find myself wanting to collect charms and create charm bracelets to commemorate my life and happy moments. I have also started to add to my inventory on eBay a selection of vintage charms. To showcase some of these, my husband designed a website for me called Vintage Charm Collector. There I have been posting vintage charms and some videos to go with them. I hope you will stop by the new site and tell me what you think.

Charm bracelets were popular in the the 1940′s. I still have mine. You bought each charm separately & added it to your chain bracelet. Thanks for the reminder.
Very nice, but I am partial to DCR’s vintage clocks ((( he hee )))
How is the weather over there, I heard the cheese is warming the planet.
Nice. Though the only charms I ever had was “lucky Charms.”
these are absolutely beautiful
I remember my Grandmother had a charm bracelet with all her children and grand children. My son was the last charm added before her Home Coming.
Ummm Lucky Charms.
That is a sweet way to remember grandchildren on a charm bracelet.
Haha…I spent like 10 minutes blogging this month! Sometimes, you just have to step away. My days of “caring” about keeping up with everything are gone (and good riddance). The worst thing a blogger can do is feel obligated to do anything like visit 300 people per day.
I’ll definitely visit your new site! This is the first day in some time I’ve actually gone and visited any people in a while
300 people per day?
Does anyone do that??? ((whew))
Hello Wisconsin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember charm bracelets. I thought they were neat but I couldn’t be bothered to collect them and wear them. I liked to buy my bracelets already put together because I’m lazy (and cheap) that way. LOL. Anyway, sorry it takes me so long to get around to the blog these days but I guess you are right – we are on the same blog schedule. Anyway, I miss you and think of you often.
Oh, and I just wanted to second what Bobby Revell said about “good riddance” to worrying about keeping up with everyone and 300 blogs.
Great comment.
Hi I collect Gold vintage mechanical charms and an tryign to find a way to value my collection and also add to it. Can anyone help me with this. My cololection includes a safe, a electric fan, waffle iron, some really rare ones.
I am not an appraiser- I would think that your local jeweler might be a good start for valuing your collection. However, my caution would be that they may just value the gold and not know the intrinsic value of your charms.
If you are looking to add to your collection, I would suggest eBay. The collectible vintage sterling charm market is great on there, but I don’t know if the gold charms being sold on there are as good.
hello, to get accurate evaluations on charms i would highly suggest talking to the specialized dealers at antiques fairs, such as the Grandma’s Attic fairs in the UK. I have collected charms as a hobby for years and have found this is the most reliable way to evaluate if I’m unsure.
