Hibernation

I am happy to say I am done with all the tasks and chores that January brings after pushing through and just doing what needed to be done.

At times I felt overwhelmed and I wanted to hibernate like a bear. Or at least crawl back under the covers and put off for a little while longer- all the organizing, cleaning and putting things away. Instead I pushed through and did all the taxes, cleaned up all the Christmas decorations, and finished up a lot tasks that were put aside temporarily for the Christmas holidays.

And so I am writing this with a huge feeling of relief. I now have my evenings back, free to read my favorite blogs, or write on this one. Read a book or two… maybe watch a few old movies.

So you will see me here later this week, posting about some inane, old vintage thing that probably only tickles my fancy. Until then, I just wanted you to know that I wasn’t in fact hibernating like a bear in the middle of winter.

See that bear up top- yeah it’s a panda bear and although pandas are really bears they don’t  hibernate. I just wanted to post the picture to share a cute story.  My five year old received that panda bear last weekend as a late Christmas present.

He really took a shine to it and carried it all over the house. I had never seen him get so attached to a stuffed animal.

I said to him, “you really like that panda bear don’t you?’

To which he replied, “yeah, but is it made with real panda?”

It was all I could do to keep from busting out laughing… later I did tell him it wasn’t made from real panda.

What do you think- should I turn him into PETA?

I’d like to hibernate, too, with the winter we’ve been having. It’s like living up north. We’ve actually had snow and/or ice on the ground for nearly a week. Fortunately, though, I’m not having to plug the truck coolant heater in like I had to do for over a week in December. I’m ready for Spring (next month, here…, hopefully).

Winter stinks, that’s all there is to it!

Thank goodness for Netflix streaming movies, no??

Mike I am ready for Spring- it has actually been pretty mild this January and then we got some more snow this week. I feel snow is pretty and novel from Thanksgiving until New Years and then the feeling wears off…

Hi Eric- you got thrown into moderation because your name wasn’t recognized. I have moderation on first time visitors, because I have had a few really off the wall comments. One was totally racist, a couple comments with people using the “F” word like it was an adjective… things of that sort of nature. My blog recognizes Speedcat and Vintage Boy- now it recognizes lumberjack champion as well… if you became Nekkid Wacko though- you are on your own.

As for Netflix I am sure it is cool- but I just use the library since it’s free and I am usually behind in trends by a year or two so I don’t mind the lack of fresh movie choices.

Oh, I know that feeling! I could happily hibernate now… once Christmas is over, I get fed up with winter and its long nights and cold mornings. I’m glad February’s started – the quicker January disappears, the better!

Aw, a panda made from real panda! I like that! Kids worry about the strangest things, don’t they?

Ha Jen- How funny as you were writing this, I was simultaneously posting a comment on your blog.

Hurray for February too- March is a long bit of ice and wind though. BLARG!

No inane things as far as I can see. Just cool “old vintage things” that tickle my fancy:)

I some times worry this time of year that I could quite possible hibernate for the rest of my life (think Katharine Hepburn by the seaside writing her memoirs) Suddenly, It’s Spring!!!

the things kids say…someone should write a book:)

    Thanks for sharing, Michelle

LOL – That is a great story and I’m glad to see your son is concerned that his toys aren’t made from real animals. Maybe he will grow up to be a member of PETA. Or did I read this wrong and it was that he was actually disappointed that it wasn’t made with real Panda? ;) Oh, and I know what you mean about being relieved after getting all that holiday and tax stuff out of the way. Although I still have the tax stuff to do. **sigh**

January always makes me want to hibernate. If ever there was a month for procrastinating.

    Real panda… priceless :)
