A Parliamant of Vintage Owls

January is probably the busiest month of the year for me for a variety of reasons. I could bore you with a long list of chores that happen the first month of the year but I won’t.  Many of them having to do with being an accountant and doing business taxes. YAWN!

Anyway- I have a million ideas for posts on this old blog in the new year.  I am still working on a retrospective of 1990 otherwise known as things that are almost vintage and I am stilling mulling around with some other ideas to write on. For the time being I still want to post but don’t have the time for much actual writing.

So for tonight I will just post some pretty pictures of vintage owl jewelry. Did you know a group of owls is called a parliamant? I didn’t either- I have to wonder what the connection is?

This brooch is really cute with his green and yellow mottled belly. Reminds me of the sixties and Peter Max art. Ooooo Psychedelic.

Okay so maybe you aren’t into psychedelic- this sleek brooch is more of your classic owl.

Here we have a signed Gerrys owl brooch that doubles as a necklace. More owl for your money- when you’re jewelry does double duty.

And this guy remember him from up top? He’s marked Sarah Coventry and his little glasses flip up and down. Adorable!

Wait a minute… Now you’re trying to steal birds from me???

Really- I had no idea you had a bird blog. Are you the birdman of Alcatraz?

They’re lovely! They all look quite stern, apart from the third one, which looks a bit upset!

A parliament is interesting, and I also had no idea that they were referred to as such. Will remember that now though when I see a nice set of vintage jewelry owls in the future. Fun collection you have there.

Hi Jen- I never thought of the owl jewelry as looking stern. I thought the last one looked like it was flirting… I have also never thought owls looked wise- if you look at the crazy way an owls eyes move, they look off the wall or weird but not wise. I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

Hi Tammara- Thanks for dropping by- I’ll have to stop by your blog shortly. :)

Meleah- the little owl with the movable glasses sold less then an hour after I listed him in my ETSY shop. I believe that cutey is on it’s way to Australia.
