I love them! They’re so simple but bold. The last pair seems like a great way to incorporate old earrings you may not wear anymore, that is missing a mate.

Mike- it was an amazing state park, my 3 pictures don't do it justice. We are definitely going back soon as it is practically just outside our back door (an hour and 15 minutes away). I have been to Lake Winnebago on the Fon du Lac side- but the north side in the state park was so beautiful. It was my first trip to High Cliff- I wish I had found out about it sooner. We have five kids so we don't always get out as much as two children households. I didn't buy a park sticker this year- but we had a couple of free admission passes from two of my children reading for the summer reading program. Yesterday- I pulled one of the passes out and looked up the state parks listed on the back. High cliff was about an hour away so I thought why not. Turned out it was a great trip... but I dolook forward to going back when it is not 90.

I asked Karen if her family had ever gone to that park and all I got was a blank look. With a large family, single income, they didn't go much of anywhere. Sometimes they went over to THE lake -- Lake Michigan, of course -- , to Point Beach, and she remembers going once to Pottawatomie State Park and to something over at the Dells. Point Beach was only about 5 miles from their house.

We spent a few days in Wisconsin visiting our daughter and her little family week before last.

just the fact that you were able to make the painstaking task of digging a ditch into a treasure hunt is pretty impressive! And of course I haven't forgotten you!

Thanks for dropping by Pete- I don't watch many new movies. I only watch new movies like Star Wars (movies and cartoons) and Star Trek when they come out because I have teenage boys and I can get into the characters. I am not a big fan of Cagney as an actor- but maybe I haven't seen the right movies. So many movies- so little time. :) Some older movies are worth it just to watch for the scenery and ambiance. I have been known to watch an older movies, just to check out the cars, clothes, and gadgets... it's even better though when the plot is good and the actors can act.

Actually it has some great scenes of the Queensboro bridge and when you drive on the FDR drive you can see a Settlment house that still remains and some buildings that look like they were there when the FDR was a dock or water.
Akso this is a much better movie than Angels with Dirrty Faces with James Cagney (whom gave an excellent portrayal of the Bogart character). Bogart was in that movie wit Pat O' Brian and the Dead End kids.
The movie really catches the poverty and the contrast with tbe wealthy. You can still see some of the tenements on the lower East Side that remain. But soon they will be gone replaced by tall glass monstrocity sterile buildings that Bloomberg allows.
Anyway its a great movie and no real action like "Salt" today jumping on truck after truck without breaking a boneM
How else could they cover such a ridiculous plot. Where are the great movies like this. Have we all become idiots?
Pete

Thank you :) I'm mostly just glad it's finished now - it seemed to take forever! I am pleased with it though.

A laundry chute does sound fun, although I can see why you'd worry about the children disappearing down it! I'm quite pleased that the reality of it actually is as good as I imagined!

Hi Jenny- We thought about building a patio before, but it really seemed like too much work. When the bricks for a small patio showed up for free I figured I would just go with the project.

A laundry chute is kind of neat actually. It's a hole in the wall with a door on it in an upper level of a house. You open the door and throw your dirty clothes down the chute or slide and your clothes end up in the basement next to your washing machine. Our laundry chute is in the hall between the first floor bathroom and our bedroom. So you can quickly toss off all your dirty clothes in the hall, throw them down the chute, and make a run for the shower which is only about 10 or 15 steps away.

The only thing bad a bout a laundry chute is that little children are fascinated with it and I am always afraid one of the smaller children will go down it head first.

I was actually on your new website the other night reading. I love it- it is just so neat and I love the lay out and cohesiveness of the set up. I really envy you, it's a great website to showcase your writing. I'll be over there again on the weekend.

Hi Mike- I can picture your patio since you described it so well. I have been pretty sluggish all week and I attribute to all the manual labor. I am in pretty good shape, but it was quite a bit more work then I am used to. I am hoping to finish it up this weekend. I need to buy all the crushed stone and sand for fill- according to the internet I am past the hard part though.

I envy you on your tip- would love to travel more, but it is hard with our youngest Julian. He is 2 and the size of a 5 year old... handling him is a lot of hard work in itself. ;o)
