I have a couple sick children so my posting will be pretty erratic this week on my blogs. Most of you will be by the pool this week, while I am being barfed on by my two year old. To make sure that you are properly attired, I have posted this clip from 1952… don’t forget the sunscreen.

I started using Entrecard last month and I have mixed feelings about it. However, since this blog is about vintage and not about blogging, I will dispense with my opinions and just go to handing out links. I noticed that a lot of blogs using Entrecard reward their top 10 Droppers with links and I want to as well.
So with out further ado- my top 10 Droppers for July are
2.) Jasmin’s Heart
6.) Picture Clusters
7.) Robin’s Woods
10.) The Cafe at the End of the Universe
Now go out and visit these great sites- but don’t forget to come back!

Vintage Television: Fred Sanford Visits a Mexican Restaurant
July 31st, 2008 · 11 Comments
It occurred to me that some of you- young whipper snappers might not know who the Fred Sanford is that I am referencing at the top of my web site. Fred Sanford was the main character in the 1970’s television show Sanford and Son. Fred Sanford was an old, junk dealer who lived with his son and was played by Redd Foxx, while his son Lamont was played by Demond Wilson. The show ran from 1972 to 1977 and was critically acclaimed. I feel it’s better to show a snippet of the show, then to try to go into great detail to explain the vintage coolness of Fred Sanford… here’s a little bit from the show in which Fred visits a Mexican restaurant.

Either I want a dog or I want to drop acid…
July 30th, 2008 · 14 Comments
I loathe dogs- they smell and they have a funny way of greeting people. When’s the last time a cat sniffed your junk? But ever since I was a kid I wanted a dog because of this commercial.
Actually I don’t want a dog I just want the chuck wagon effect. I suppose I could get the same effect from dropping acid, but that ’s so hit and miss whether or not I would get the little chuck wagons or killer clowns (or killer clowns driving chuck wagons)- not to mention the drive to the seedy part of town.
I guess I’ll just throw back another glass of wine and watch this a few more times. Pour yourself a beer, throw stuff at your dog for me and enjoy!
